Giving and Receiving: Shifting Power Through Trust-based Philanthropy

To extend the discussions coming out of the Giving and Receiving report, published in late 2020 by the Lien Centre for Social Innovation (LCSI), LCSI hosted an online panel discussion that explored trust-based philanthropy and how it can contribute to the shifting power dynamics between funders and their recipients. The session was the fourth discussion as part of the Giving and Receiving Programme Series.

Together with Firetree Philanthropy, the session brought together leaders from three philanthropic entities (PEs) based in Hong Kong whose work spans across different markets. The panel discussed new trends in philanthropy that require a shift in the way funders think and operate. This diversity in perspectives contributes to the application of lessons learned in a Southeast Asian context.
